Stopped here for breakfast on way to Brainerd. It's a truck stop restaurant, but very good food. The food portions were large and served hot. My husband said the hash browns, served crispy, but moist, were the best he had in a long time. He asked for and got his bacon crispy. I had the oatmeal; the portion was huge, could not finish. The prices were very reasonable and would stop here, again. Paige, our server was friendly and attentive.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. It's a typical nice diner. Good menu selections and clean. I opted for the soup and salad bar. Ok selections on the salad end but three yummy soups to choose from. I tried a little of each-chili, chicken wild rice and beef stew. All were nice and hot and delish. Great place for a nice comfort food meal!

Good Food. Reasonable prices. Great spaghetti! Nice salads. Service is fine. Not much ambiance as it's a truck stop. But we eat there sometimes.

Located in a truck stop. It's the perfect stop for truckers for fuel. A shower. And a filling meal! These places are getting to be far and few between with the big chain truck stops taking over the truck stop industry that only offer fast food and expensive groceries . I had the special. Pancake plater. Came with 2 huge pancakes. 2 eggs. Choice of meat (ham, sausage patties or bacon). I took bacon (5slices) hash browns or fried potatoes. Water and a carafe of coffee Service was quick and server checked 2-3 times how everything was. Couldn't eat it all! Got full!! Took a nap after I ate.... Will definitely stop again if I'm in the area!!

I work in Albertville, and I will be coming here just for the hash browns alone. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Highly recommend.

First time here today. Absolutely loved everything. It's a hidden gem. Best breakfast in the area. See the pics. The omelette a are huge and full of fresh quality ingredients. The pancakes are the size of the whole plate too. The coffee cake was fresh tasting and moist and flavorful. The burger was very good as well. The fries had a nice crisp on the outside of them. Everything was awesome. Even our waiter Ty was great. Highly recommend this place. This will now be my new spot for breakfast with the hubby. Will definitely be going back to try lunch and dinner entrees as well.

Nestled in the heart of Clearwater, Hasty 183 Diner at 4101 148th St NW, Clearwater, MN 55320, delivers the kind of small-town American charm that travelers crave and locals cherish. If you're searching for a hearty breakfast, a welcoming atmosphere, or simply a spot where time slows down over a cup of coffee—this place nails it.

A roadside gem that feels like home

Walk into Hasty 183 Diner, and you're greeted by more than just the scent of sizzling bacon or the familiar clatter of a bustling kitchen. This isn’t just a pit stop off the highway—it’s a comforting slice of Americana. The diner, just a short turn off Highway 24, captures everything folks love about small-town eateries: friendly service, generous portions, and down-to-earth prices.

What sets it apart? It’s the way regulars chat over black coffee like old friends, or how first-time visitors feel instantly included. We met a couple driving cross-country who found the diner purely by chance. They ended up staying for an extra hour, sharing pancakes and stories with locals. That’s the kind of place this is.

Hearty plates, real flavors, no fuss

The menu at Hasty 183 Diner focuses on what diners do best—classic American comfort food served hot, fast, and with zero pretension. Think fluffy buttermilk pancakes, golden hash browns cooked to crisp perfection, and hand-pattied burgers that actually taste like they were made fresh (because they are). The Country Fried Steak here comes smothered in creamy, peppered gravy and has that crunchy outside, tender inside combo that’s hard to beat.

We also sampled their house omelets, loaded with cheese, ham, and fresh veggies. Everything is made to order, and the kitchen crew really knows their way around the grill. It’s clear that the diner values consistency—you get the same quality whether it’s a Sunday brunch or a midweek breakfast run.

More than just a pit stop—it's a local favorite

While travelers often stumble across Hasty 183 by chance, it’s the community ties that give it real staying power. Families gather here after church. Truckers swing by for a solid meal before hitting the road. Even the staff know many regulars by name—and they remember your usual.

The location itself, just off I-94, makes it incredibly convenient for those passing through Clearwater or heading toward St. Cloud or the Twin Cities. But don’t let the convenience fool you—this place has personality. The décor leans retro, with cozy booths, checkerboard floors, and handwritten chalkboard specials.

Online reviews echo much of what we experienced in person. Guests consistently highlight the “small-town charm,” “homestyle meals,” and “friendly, fast service.” With a solid rating across platforms like Yelp and Google, the diner has built a reputation that extends beyond city limits.

Comfort food with heart, served with a smile

From sunrise breakfast specials to late-morning brunches, the diner hums with the sounds of sizzling skillets, coffee refills, and easy conversation. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a quick bite or settle in for a slow morning without judgment.

In a world of drive-thrus and digital ordering, Hasty 183 Diner keeps it simple, soulful, and rooted in community. Whether you're a local or just passing through, don’t skip this hidden gem. Pull off the road, grab a booth, and taste what real diner cooking is all about.
